My buddy has had his for 3 years and he is still unsuccessful. But had his midas breed a couple times.

I don't know when they pair up but they can breed at about a year old. They would probably be anywhere from 6-9".

[IMG]tank size is important 55 gal or greater if you have a pair( your?? )water should be in the idea range for cleanlyness and over all health.. and are healthy?? fish 4.5-16'' in the rare case larger ,some say to fatten them up for 2 weeks separted lots of live frozen foods bloodworms, krull, live crayfish, live fish if you raise them give them the royal tretment .did you raise temp from78-79 to about 84???( do this gradually as fair as raising the temp. did you notice lip locking and or tail slaping with the fish( non serious damage ex lose of fin, scale etc.) ??? this is the female testing the strength of the male . do you have a flat rock or rock's large in size reletive to the oscar???? some would say to cover the tank with paper make a small hole so as not to spook them in too eatin the egg's but not alway's nessacery .. I've even heard of using peet moss but how it is aplyed to the prossess is still not known to me as of yet... good luck

peat moss would be to lower the PH of the water. Lower PH slows down the eggs from hardening.

It's all about water quality though. I've never had Oscars, but with Angelfish I had let my nitrates stay up and they didn't breed for a year. I went in, got all the gunk and decaying plant matter out, did a couple of really huge water changes and brought nitrates down to 5 ppm, and within a week two seperate pairs of angels had laid eggs.
