Can anybody give me some info about these? (max size in aquaria, diet, tankmates, etc...) I don't really know much about them, but I love the look and am thinking about getting one from NE cichlids...

Thanks in advance!

All I could find was that they get up to 40" +/- and they only become active when being fed. Somewhat similar to a clown knifefish I guess. They look really cool!!!

Google tiger knifefish, not the same as what Nic has but they are another cool looking knifefish. They have the colors and stripes just like a tigrinus catfish.

Thanks. Tried regular google searches with most common names and the scientific name: Rhamphichthys rostratus, not much came up though.

40" is a bit big for me atm, looks like I'll have to wait...

Still want info though, especially from anyone that has owned one.

mine never ate (RIP). make sure they eat at the store.

their normal behavior (as mentioned) is very sedentary, but when they do move... very cool

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind...
Would you say that they can live with less aggressive tankmates?

I observed no aggression and housed it with discus.

Thanks

I still have my two. Doing well, they've grown only about an inch in 6 months I've had them. No aggression toward anything except other knives. Lemme know if you have any other specific questions. Here's my thread on them:

Thanks and pm'ed.

That link and the other thread you made on knife's were amazing! (well, mainly the other thread regarding taxonomy etc...) That should become a sticky...
