My featherfin squeaker has JUST reached adult coloring, and is suddenly hiding much less than he used to.

I had been planning to get some cichlids or other compatible middle swimmers as tankmates. Since I have been enjoying this cat so much though, I recently thought maybe I could get a couple of other cats instead of as many middle swimmers.

Suggestions? {Please keep in mind that I really don't want any that will get much bigger than this guy is supposed to get!!!}

Another eupterus? Possibly more than one?
I know some cats are more social than others with their own kind, but I've been seeing varying opinions on just how social squeakers are.

Are any plecs a good match?

I'm a syno noob so I don't have much of an answer. All I can tell you is that I'm going to have to move my eupterus pretty soon because he is really bullying my Royal plec and cory cats. That and he's grown so fast he needs more room anyway. :D

I have three of them together with a striped raphael (Platydoras costatus) and three pictus catfish (Pimelodus pictus). They are a sight to behold when they all come out of hiding at night.

iam1: Cool!! Are all of them close in size? Did you get them in any special order? Any 'gang wars'? Do you expect to be able to keep them together indefinitely?
Enough questions? LOL!!

They are all close in size. I didn't plan out any order for putting them in the tank, though I remember I got the striped raphael first, then the Synodontis eupterus and finally the pictus. They all shared the hiding places under the big driftwood in my tank. Haven't noticed any 'gang wars' for the six months that I've had them together.

I have a Eupterus with a trio of Multipunctatus with a Niger and a giraffe cat.They all get along and come out when I drop food in and try to out eat one another.

Thank you ALL!!!

Nigaharu: Did you get them at the same time? I'm wondering if your experience is what a late introduction would result in, esp since my Squeaker is in adult coloring now and losing most timidity!!

iam1: Your group sounds great!!! Are they all omnivores? --Sorry! I haven't had time to look them up properly yet!
I'm curious if it makes a difference in aggression whether they all need the same diet. They all constantly graze for food in the same space anyway...

krichardson: Do they all get along during feeding as well?

I appreciate all the responses!!! I REALLY want a peaceful tank, and while I understand that these little characters each have their own personality or/& disposition, I think your advice will help me acheive my goal!!!

Yeah there is very little aggression between them at any time.When I got the Eupterus I was told that the Multipunctatus would squabble with it but I have never had that problem and its been about a year that they've been together now,glad to be able to help.
