I asked the same question (different area). I would guess anything that thrives in local ponds so long as you can supply a food source?

What are your winter low temps? For color and size, it's hard to beat koi and goldfish. Guppies, mollies, swordtails, some danios, texas cichlid and any number of native fish could live in your pond if the low water temp never goes below 50. If your temps stay warmer than that, include Central American cichlids.

Texas Blues are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

imo

water temps dont go that low in winter years ago i had two chinese hi fin banded sharks in my koi pond but they died in the bucket i had the fish in when i drained the pond to scrape alage off the sides a problem i wont have any more since im adding hornwort and water hyacinths to the pond to destroy nitrates, outcompete alage, oxegenate wich i have a water fall and a pump already supplying oxegen but i would like there to be more but also the plants will provide cover how expensive are hi fin sharks these days??

I saw them last fall in a LFS for 9.99 but I have heard they are getting $$$.
