Alright guys I am upset, mad, mind boggled. All my fish in all of my tanks are flashing on a pretty frequent basis. All of my tanks are over filtered and under stocked in my opinion. I keep a strict water changing regiment and I have cut back on feedings recently. All the fish appear to be visibly healthy no signs of stress great coloration. I have water testing kits and I have never seen my Nitrates above 30 ppm and this reading would be right before a water change. My tigrinus does it the most frequent and the most violent performing barrel rolls as he rubs himself. I also have a cobra pike who I have raised from about 3" to his current size 10". He has flashed on a pretty consistent basis since I have gotten him. I haven't had an outbreak of ich in over a year and this has only occured in very young fish. All the fish that are currently doing the flashing are bigger mature fish. What else could be causing this? All the fish are eating like gluttons and don't show any signs of stress beyond the flashing. I have a trip to the local fish store planned today where I will pick up another testing kit just in case my current one is faulty. All other parameters seem to be fine. Obviously there is no amonia or nitrite in the water but the ph is right around 7, hardness and all other parameters are all within acceptable ranges. I am stumped. I would think if there were some parasites or other nasty it would have killed the fish by now. Can anyone out there lend another suggestion. Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

How frequent is it ? None stop, a few times a day? My datnoids do this on a pretty regular
basis and i know that they are just being territorial and that they are not hosting parasites at all .

The two new widebars are doing it a few times a day. I have thought it might be an issue of territory. I know the cobra pike is super agro and has been moved to another tank because he was bullying the dats. He also used to pick on the Tig constantly and since I moved the pike the Tig has become so much more active. The pike used to make him stay in a corner of the 180 and if he came out he would be chased back to his corner. It's strange that since I moved him the Tig appears to become much more agressive. I have actually seen him semi attack the dats when they swim over his head and I have never witnessed this behavior from the Tig before. I honestly think everyone is healthy it just irks me when I am looking at the tank and they flash. The dats more or less slowly rub over a decoration it is not violent so I suppose they are just marking their spots. Thanks for the input Wes I will continue to keep an eye on everyone.
