Ok so recently acquired this ray, love it and very very active, I mean he never stops, doing circles of the tank, which is brilliant.
The LFS told me he was eating White bait with no trouble but he doesn't seem to be swallowing any for me, it will just be played with in his mouth then spat out half chewed sort of thing, pretty much the same with prawn.
So I'm just really looking for someone to tell me it will he fine, just give him time etc etc.
Have never had this prob with any motoro in the past.
So should I be worried or not? You all know what it's like with a new expensive fish, paranoid, panicking etc.....
Thanks.

Try smaller pieces of food and see if he eats. I have found with new rays that they will eat smaller pieces in the beginning. As they get used to the food, they will take larger and larger pieces.

Thanks for that, I had actually tried that but guess I'm still not going small enough, as I say he keeps picking it up, chewing and spitting out again, will do this a couple of times and then just get fed up I guess.
It seems that with motoro they don't care how big, they will just go for it.
Anyway will try even smaller tonight, and report back.

just to put this thread to bed, the ray is now happily eating, I've been cutting the whitebait up into smaller pieces which seems to have done the trick so thanks for the tip.

Glad he is eating better.
