usually no. they tend to eat the slime coat off of discus. some people say they keep them together, but I would'nt risk expensive discus on oto's.

I agree,
I have kept them together in the past but once they devlope a taste for discus slime they don't stop. I do not keep them together any longer for the reason stated above.

I've had ottos with my discus for a very long time, never had a problem. The key is just to make sure the ottos have plenty to eat. Put a lot of wood and plants, and make sure there is plenty of room.

I have kept ottos and discus together in planted tanks. Has always made me a little nervous, but have not found a good alternative for the ottos in planted setups. I have never had a problem. Ottos just can't be beat for keeping the plants clean, while not being a risk to eat them. Ottos are also one of the few species that really eat brown algae. I've never really had a problem with it, but still something to consider (especially in newer setups). BTW, I know plecos will eat it too, but they may also eat your plants and are deffinatly a risk to the discus.
