I feel like ****. I "rescued" a silver aro from an LFS. It wasn't planned out, but I thought I could make it work until my 100g was cycled. I divided the only tank that I could- a 55g with 1 very aggressive fish in it. I sunk the divider all the way down through the gravel and I drained an inch or so of water so that the divider was above the water line. Somehow, the aro got over the divider. I woke up and found him like this:

He has been swimming around fine like this for about 2 days now. His food is gone, but I have not seen him eat it. Should I medicate him with anything? Do I need to remove him or the other fish if I do medicate?
If there is a way I can keep them together and medicate that would be ideal. The larger tank should be cycled soon, but I don't want to medicate in it.

hope he makes it, i tend to have soft hart and get fish i see that are in bad shape. lol i really gotta stop that lol b4 wife hurts me

put the arow in a different tank, add salt and bump temp and hope he gets better.
P.S. arows can jump.........HIGH!!!

lol ya for sure make sure there isnt anywear he can get ot bc if there is he might go for it, but to be safe i would def bump up temp and add some salt. is he eating, if so what u feeding him

The divider goes all the way up to the lid. I even cut out slots for the lip that the lid sits on, and twisted the divider around it so it fits tight. He either wormed his way through one of the holes in the egg crate or somehow opened the lid on his side and wiggled over to the lid and opened it on the other side and got in. Im still dropping in some freeze dried shrimp and hikari gold floaters. If I add salt and raise the temp, do I need to take anything out of the ac110's I have on there? Will it hurt the other fish in the tank if I add salt?

damn so much for the "rescue"! what happened to the rest of his face?!?!?!?!?! that looks pretty bad

Amazingly he is still swimming around fine...like nothing happened at all. He's a hardcore mofo

Rule number one is NEVER rescue a fish from a crappy lfs. You are rewarding them for being crappy and you are condenming another fish to that lfs. Just shoot the lfs owner if you want to help :grinno:

what kind of fish was he kept with in ur tank
