Hello fellow members…

I was thinking about how hard it was as a beginner in learning what fish ate what. I thought that if there was a post on just fish and there diet, it would help a lot of newbies. It might also help all of the members that have been in this hobby to come up with new ideas in feeding there aquatic family members. I am interested in the fishy cocktail that we make up for each feeding. Myself I was amazed and baffled when I stood in front of the food section of the LFS and thinking :duh: witch one is better for my fish. If you would like to help out our members as well as the guest that are just viewing the site and thinking about joining, then please take part in this post and list the following:

Type of fish / there diet and product name / feeding schedule / and of course any pics are always welcome

AND REMEMBER NEVER OVERFEED YOUR TANK

i have several fish and they all get fed a mixture of the following. youll notice most of food i feed is not sold at pet stores:

- random pellets
- krill
- blood worms
- market shrimp
- clams
- mussles
- beef heart
- fresh mysis shrimp (from supermarket, not pet store)
- mysis shrimp (frozen cubes)
- squid
- turkey franks (as an occasional treat)

Various cichlids O, RD, Cons, JD, GT. i feed them a mix of cyclopse-eeze granules and cichlid granules. A mix of floating and sinking cichlid pellets. Frozed and/or freeze-dried blood worms. occaisionally, sun-dried river shrimp or krill or fresh/frozen shrimp. On occaision I throw in algae wafers for my snails, but usually the cichlids get to them first. And once in a while, frozen beefheart.

variety is key.

I feed my cichlids a staple of Omega One cichlid pellets and NLS, along with freeze-dried mysis and frozen bloodworms and krill

All of my fish, in all of my tanks, eat an exclusive diet of NLS.

RD. nice red devil.

RD, Jade Perch- mixture of pellets, fish, flakes, blood worms fresh beef heart
murry cod- fish only
sleepy cod-blood worms, fish, fresh beef heart
eel tails flakes, blood worms

compressorcep/jag - flakes, frozen bloodworms, the occasional guppy, freeze dried krill, peas, hikari cichlid gold.

angels, senegals, female bettas - frozen bloodworms, shrimp pellets, flakes

oscars - hikari cichlid gold, shrimp, silversides, krill, crickets, peas, crawfish, earthworms, mealworms, any fish I might be having for dinner (they always get some, ranging from mahi mahi, salmon, tilapia, catfish, tuna etc.) The occasional frozen bloodworm cube or mysis. The occasional finger if you don't move fast enough. :D

Clown knifes - rosys, goldfish, shrimp pellets, hikari cichlid gold, silversides, shrimp

Every other tank in the house gets a varied diet like above. They get what they'll eat, minus feeders. Only 1 tank gets feeders often, that's the ck's.

I think I covered all of them..........;)

Usually whatever fish is on sale, shrimp, vegetables, algae wafers, Hikari pellets, blood worms, the occasional cricket and flakes for the betta.
