I found this great site a while back, but just filed it away in my links list for a rainy day. Well since that time, I've really learned what it's like to be bitten by the aquarium bug.

My wife and I have both had a lot of freshwater aquariums/ fish over the years and we ventured into the saltwater/reef world last year. I had read and studied for some time (three years or so) on what would be required to have a decent reef setup and managed upon a free 75 gallon setup that needed to be broken down and moved quickly. With the help of a good friend and a few hours time, I broke down the tank, moved it 30 miles or so, cleaned it, then set it back up. It's been running since early June 2009 and I've had the desire for a larger tank since.

A month ago I happened upon a 125 gallon that was quite interesting. It had never had water in it (silicone is still quite pliable with no nicks or chunks missing), it has three holes drilled in the bottom (which is double half inch glass, 1" bottom) for bulkheads, had a custom stand/canopy, and a boxed filtration system built into the stand that had the overflow and return lines hidden inside the legs of the stand. Quite unique I thought.

After getting this "neat aquarium" home I soon discovered that the stand with it's built in filtration and canopy would be unusable for a reef setup. I have since drawn up a plan for a wall unit to be the stand, canopy, and an armoire on each end similar to what Wolf3103 drew up back in Oct '07.

I know that this isn't going to be a 500 gallon "Monster" that a lot of you have, but undertaking a build from scratch to include the stand, canopy, complete filtration, plumbing, lighting, rockwork, etc will be a "Monster" to my family and me.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to start the stand portion soon and start tying the pieces together.

Thanks! Looking forward to getting this thing operating!!!

That sounds like a heck of a project... Congrats and good luck
