Anyone keep doves outside, it gets over 100 here in the summer but it looks like people still do it, whats the scoop on it, not worth it or what, too hot, too cold, Bakersfield CA. Too messy? Just a thought. Ah never mine delete the thread.

Just kidding so whats the scoop?

I kept a pigeons (aka Rock Doves) outdoors all year long here in PA. We have very hot summers and cold winters and I never lost any except to the damn hawks. You just have to give them some place to get out of the weather.

You mean just shelter within the shelter?

Sort of. My enclosure was 12'x10'x8' and 2 sides and the top were covered with plywood. It helped as a wind block. On the sheltered side I had 8 nest boxes that provided additional shelter. If the winter got really bad I covered the other 2 open sides with a tarp for extra protection.
