how long can a gar stay out of water before too much damage occurs. my 8" florida some how got past the lid and was on my chair when i woke up in the morning. it some how got past the lid and was on my chair when i woke up. it looked like he was but i picked it up it started moving so i put it back in the tank. this happened a couple of days ago and all is good. i was wondering how long it could have been there.
