I have a question for all you motor heads out there. I have a 1977 Evinrude 25 hp 2 stroke electric start motor on my 14' doublewide job boat. I recently believe I have spun the prop. After taking the prop off I found that the prop, which is pin driven, had broken the pin that makes the prop turn with the shaft into three pieces.
1. Is this a spun prop?
2. If I buy a new prop will it include this pin?
3. If not, where can I locate this pin and buy one?

I do not think it is the cotter pin, the pin that I speak of is inside the prop.

It's a shear pin. It's designed to shear off rather than hurt the shaft if your prop hits an obstruction. Is the prop OK? Did you get it off in one piece? I would assume you did. Pins are available at Evinrude dealers/service centers along with a GOOD hardware store. Just take what's left of the old one with you.

Thats exactly what it was, thanks for the help! It was a 4 dollar fix! Thank goodness I didnt prematurely buy a prop.
