I have 2 lines of red points, if I outcross them, will they look like the mom or dad? Both are pure lines from what I know. But I wanted to create some genetic diversity and possibly make a nice colorful line. Here is a small male & small female.

Generating a nice genetic line would take multiple breedings and crosses amongst parents and progenies.
You can breed them and see how the fry turn out, but in the 1st cross I don't think you'll find very interesting traits, it'll just be geneotypic cross but phenotypically most will represent the dominant wild type traits, just some differences here and there. Multiple self crosses needed to stabilize a trait too.

In any spawn of location variants, a certain percent (maybe 30%) will look like 1 parent, another 30% percent the other parent. Then there are maybe 20% that will be a combination .
And you may not know until many hit maturity.
And note there will be 10% in each group with deformities that need to be culled, some not visible until close to maturity (i.e. curved spines, flared gill plates, screwed up mouths, etc)

Ahh I see. So if I take the fry that look like a combination of the parents and breed them over & over, I know they’ll carry genomes of both parents. Maybe that’ll accelerate my breeding program?
