Is it possible to set up an aquarium exactly the same way it would be set up indoors? Or is there something special you have to do? I want to upgrade, but I can't keep a bigger tank indoors. I live in socal. Thank you guys ahead of time :)

I have an 1800 gallon wooden pond for my koi. I know a few people who have made these and are keeping catfish, bass, and hi fin sharks in them. I was thinking about doing a salt water water one for sharks and rays. Similar to the shark lagoon at the Aquarium of the Pacific. They have a shark lagoon with rays, bamboo and epaulett sharks that guest can touch.

Well you have to make sure the electronics don't get wet, and make sure the heater can maintain the temp at night. Other then that I don't see an issue, maybe some serious algae.

Imo dig a hole buy a pond liner!

I'm not a fan of ponds aha I like seeing my fish up close and personal ;-) I was thinking about building an enclosure to block it from direct sunlight, was just wondering if it'd work.

Large tank lots of cost of course. Heat number one concern.
But other than that if you can afford the 10k ish. To build a tank that large then you can do it. Plan tons of insulation and personally I would setup a vent and fan to kick on when temps hit a certain level to take hot air out of the tank and hummidity.
