Hey y’all!

IMG_1251.jpeg
This past year’s experiment has been a DIY greenhouse aquaponics tilapia pond. I am pleased to say that it has been a tremendous success year round, even when winter temps dip below freezing (water stays in the 72°-84° range with minimal heating only on the coldest nights).

Now it’s time to expand. The current greenhouse is a 8’x12’ footprint. The area I have available is 14’x56’ with a moderate slope of about 6’ over the length of the space. I’d like to set up 3-6 tiered ponds for some monster fish breeding projects and am looking for any ideas or inspiration. Let’s see what you’ve got!

Sounds like a sweet project. Do you plan to have separate filtration for each tier? Or have an overflow tier to tier with a large sump at the bottom? It’s not very efficient to run them each on a separate filter but in term of bio safety doing so could avoid cross contamination or whole system disease outbreaks. Of course in the strict sense that would require eliminating any possibility of fish jumping from tier to tier, and require separate cleaning & netting gear 😵‍💫
What are you goals & intentions for these ponds?
