I am moving back to the states after about 8 years, The wife and i bought a house in New Hampshire and i would like to build a pond maybe 1000 - 1500 gallons. My question is about the winters in that part of the U.S. is it to cold for the Koi in the winter? I would not have any where to bring them inside.

thanks

New Hampshire Temperature Averages

Thanks for the reply but, we know what the weather is like their, i wonder if the fish could survive it? would the pond need to be heated or would it just be to cold for to long?

Fish will be fine, just need to keep a hole in the ice. This can be done by leaving the filters run through winter. A small pump placed on a platform so it is just under the surface will work. Or, you could use a cow trough heater found at most nurseries and farm supply stores.
