whats up everyone, love the site and been here for years just reading up/learning alot/etc.

i made a account after some time so i can post lol.
so my mom wants a pond in the backyard and asked my dad and i if we could make one.my dads 100% italian so he builds everything on his own by him self, of course he is ready to try this out.

so after reading over all this i have a few questions
id love to be able to put some of my grow out cichlids in there, what kind of heater would i use?
also alot of you look like you love the uv filters, what size would i need?and i heard using a liner is the best bet

for the pond,i was thinking like 3-4 feet deep/10 feet long and maybe like 4 to 6 feet wide.

sorry this is so sloppy, im about to leave for work and wanted to get a few ideas when i get back

at that size a liner would be the way to go, unless you bought a pool.

no heaters unless you have money to waste. UV isn't really needed either when you can make a nice shelter since your dad likes building.

you're somewhat getting a late start. seriously hot for digging so much but at least you should be pass inches of rain getting in the way.

think about making ledges, bottom drain, 1-2 skimmers and maybe multiple in/out points.

gl and hope it goes good

or if ya just want super simple, get a 300g rubbermaid and Tetra Clear Choice PF 1 or 2 with a pump.

This is one I just built...it is above ground tho I dont know if yall want in-ground or not. If you get a lot of sun on the pond get a UV. No need for heaters in the summer...your cichlids will grow out over the summer but not the winter unless you spend a lot on a big heater and the power to run it. I am from New orleans but moved to Lafayette so same weather.
