I live in northeast texas and want to build a outdoor pond using a intex pool or kiddie pool. What kind of issues can I expect to encounter? I know in the summer time the heat my by a issue so I was thinking I could berry my plumbing in the ground to naturally cool the return water. However I am not sure how efficient that would work. My next concern is winter time. I could only assume that I would have to run some pretty good heaters to maintain a reasonable temperature. To block it from direct sunlight I would be building a canopy to cover the pond up and hopefully deter birds of prey from trying to grab my fish. Any input from experience or cool ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would like to start on this sometime this summer.
