Outdoor Pond Sealant

I have an older home and it has a mini pond built into the porch. I want to install a small fountain and stock with rainbows this summer. Its concrete and about 30 gallons (36x36x6), the only problem is that it leaks. I am wondering what a good sealer would be that wouldn't harm the aquatic life or should I just apply a skim coat of concrete?
