Ok, I live in upstate New York and in the winter it is very cold, and in the summers very hot. I was woundering if it is even possible to set-up a summer pond. I leave the fish out in the summer and take them out and house them inside in the winter....I would also be able to add a heater to the pond, most likely which would keep them warmer in the cool summer nights. Is this idea even plausible?:screwy: I think it would be a fun project for next summer....:naughty::grinno::headbang2

yes where in NY? my neighbor has a pond i think he keeps them in all year long and im in upstate NY. im not sure if he still has it but he had one at one time with plenty of fish in it as one of the cats my mom had could go and get them for lunch lol.

I live in Afton, which is like 30 minutes from Binghamton and about an hour from Syracuse. I don't know if you guys know wharer that is or not lol.

I'm looking at keeping trpoical fish not liek koi and goldfish out there mind you....Such as the oscar(s) I'm getting.

it should be possible as long as you have a good chiller for the day and some big heaters for the night then u should be fine as long as u keep them in in the winter

Diskboy12, I moved this to the pond section for some more responses.

Check this and the indoor pond sections for some really good ideas.

You'll have to dig the pond deep enough to keep the water temp. stable.

How big did you want to make this?

What kind of budget?

I just thought up this idea today.....I am looking for any and all suggestions on size. My buget is unknown at the moment....I want it big enough to house a 1-4 Oscars and maybe a rtc or rtc....not sure...=/

RTC will need 800 gals.+ and heated. A footprint of 10 X 6 will allow the cat to turn around. The deeper it is the better, it will be able to regulate summer temps. Chiller is not neccessary. A buget will help to select equipment.

Ok, I'm just gunna let everyone know that I'm only 16 and so buget isn't going to be exponential....I'm thinking maybe $400-500...I know that doesn't leave me with much.....which means most likely no rtc....any ideas?
