I collected these rocks from outside....I cleaned them and let them soak in boiling water with bleach...then soaked them in water with dechlorinator.....also did the vinegar check....

Is it safe to say they are safe for my flowerhorn???1030142155.jpg

Well, I just boil my rocks in regular water, then rinse them with cool water and add them to the tank. Based on the extra measures you took, I'd assume your flowerhorn is safe!

I just wash then under water and bam in tank I heard horror stories about dropping cold rocks in boiling water they could explode if the temp change is too quick also adding bleach not a good idea my friend washed his rocks in bleach then water only problem is the rocks soaked up all the bleach (porous rocks) and even though he soaked em in clean water it wiped out his stock

I've never used bleach, so I can't speak on that but wow... I've been boiling rocks for years and years, and have never had one explode. Not saying it isn't possible... just never heard that before. That said, I never drop mine in boiling water. I put them in a pot, fill with tap water, and then boil. I never dropped a cold rock into already boiling water, so I can't speak on the results of that either.

Exactly....I didn't go right to boiling water.....let it heat up with the rocks....as far as the bleach goes....I understood the possibility f them soaking the bleach up...that's why I used Prime to dechlorinate the rocks for an hour....also added Prime to the tank just in case. The vinegar test was to ensure the the rocks won't raise the ph of the water due to the presence of carbonate.
