hi all,
I have just turned my light on to find one of my Tat's looking rather stressed with a white mark on it's nose from, what i can only assume, swimming into the glass. I had noticed heightened aggression from one as it quite readily chases the Geo's but more recently it has been very hit or miss with the other Tat. The smaller one is quite keen to shoal but the larger doesn't seem nearly as interested and generally chases it away. To add another Tat would probably help but heres the issue; they are very rare in these parts and ultimately very expensive. Add to this, when they do turn up they are generally a lot smaller. At a guess, they are both about 8" however the larger chap has a far deeper set body. The last time they came up on the lists they were closer to 5". So here's the question, is there anything i can do in the interim to help? I'm going to grab some melafix from the chap with the scuffed head but i don't really want to pull the smaller one out as re-introducing it at a later date could cause more problems.

Would some silvery dithers help at all? Just to alleviate some of the chasing?

any help is appreciated.

the latter is already in effect as it seems to be the general solution to all alements, however i thought getting a bottle of Melafix was worthwhile anyway. I just need to decide what dithers to get as i'm not a great fan of SD's...

Mine have gotten nippy when they are hungry. i If you are feeding live, I would suggest putting a more than you usually do in there for a few days. When mine did this i put about 20 2-3'' minnows in there and that fixed it. ----------Also this is assuming they are in a decent size tank. And not over crowded. And they have some plants or driftwood. IMO decorations make them feel more at ease.

I have 4 hujeta characins for dithers---just for a idea that works great. thet hujeta's are top level swimmers and predators as well.
