I was reading that you can over aireate a tank and cause O2 poisining by having too much dissolved gas in the water.... Is this a problem? I have never really measured O2 sat but if I need to buy a tester I will but I would rather keep the money in my pocket.

Its possible but highly unlikely to happen-Anne

Perform a test. A test that involves a leaf blower, about 10 gallons of water, and a guppy. May need to throw some tubing in the mix too. Trial and error my friend, trial and error:D

lol....I was always wondering the same thing....is there such a problem as over airation? My brackish tank has little bubbles all over the place, and the canister silter spits them out...I have tried to "shake" the damn thing, and it sounds like there is lost of aiin it. The bubble wal I have in it is on the other side of the tank.....Any Ideas???

now say youve just painted your house and dont have adaquate ventalation, and your tank is heavinly aerated, well then those fumes are going to diffuse into the water rather quickyl and kill your fish

:iagree:
or if the martians attack with gas, or if your mama eats too many beans...

I got it arounf Fathers day. It has been set up and running since then. I just converted it to brackish about a month or 2 ago....could the salt in the water hold more air bubbles?
