Canada eh
so I just picked up a couple bristlenose plecs from the lfs the other day. I asked why the fish in this tank were so fat. I’m talking abnormally obese. The girl said they came into the store that way and they were over fed.

I have to admit I prolly should have known better than to listen but was excited to bring them home. You know that new fish feeling...

Now it’s a few days later and the male is still quite chubby. Just wanted to know what people’s thoughts are. Is this overfeeding or bloat or something else? I also have seen white poop strings in the water floating around. Kind of a noob at diagnosis can any one help?

I’d guess bloat. Keep water pristine. Water change and then would treat with prazipro and Epsom salt at 1 tbsp per 5g (one time). See how it responds after 2 days. If not better then get some algae wafers and crush and mix with metroplex or hex shield with Epsom salt sol and feed. Can use seachem focus to mix.

Epsom salt sol - 1/2cup distilled water and 3/4tsp of epsom salt.

Best of luck.
