Over stocked 120

I was talking to a guy at my lfs in south jersey today and they guy was bragging about his tanks stocking. He has two 12 inch oscars a 2 ft rtc x tsn a 15 inch clown knife. 2 16 inch plecos. Several black belts. While he was there he bought a pink chalceous And a 18 inch silver Arowana and he plans to pick up an xxl pleco that's already over two feet. And the store told him he would be fine with all those fish in it.

Definitely not big enough aquarium. Its a real shame when pet stores sell fish knowing they are not properly housed.

Forgot the best part they told him he could put a 4 inch bichir in there with those fish.. I only go there for feeders and I'm definitely going to be talking to the manager about his staff because they clearly don't understand fish need space

Ugh there is nothing more disgusting than a grosly under stocked tank. There is actually a style of fish keeping I have seen many people on here use that involves grossly overstocking a tank which I think is appalling.

Why didnt u throw a cold bucket of water in his face or tell him what he is doing is wrong and sad!!

I told him he was nuts putting all if those fish together and he told me " what do you know your just a kid ". I'm 20 and I've been keeping fish since I was 10 but he didn't want to hear it I tried explaining I have a 60 with one chiclid and one pleco in it but he just didn't care to listen to me

When they say oh your just a kid I pull out my phone and show them my 2000g with 3 5ft alligator gars (really 41/2 feet tho ) then all of a sudden they listen and ask me questions...

idiot, same things happen to me I´m 21 and I kept fish since I was like 9 and just cause I´m young they assume I know nothing. there is nothing better though when you go into an LFS and they ask how big your tank is for the convict you just brought and you can say "225 gallons".

On another Note, when I lived in England its the opposite problem, there was a LFS near me that was HUGE, very very experienced staff and lots of rare cichlids and anytime you wanted to buy ANYTHING from them they would say "no your tank is already overstocked" my uncle used to get refused to buy 4" africans to go in his 150 that was about half stocked. We used to call it "MFK the shop"

I thought it was common for pet store employs to let you overstock your tanks.
