Well last night my angel pair laid eggs. I had them watch them over the night while i would set up a 5g tank to artificially hatch the eggs. Well all was done and the eggs were in the 5g, when all i needed left to do was to add some methylene blue. As i added it in i misread the bottle and dosed it for a 10g. Seconds later, I realized what i done, and I already added some activated carbon to help remove some.
-Does anyone know whether the eggs will be able to survive w/ twice amount?
-Or should i just give up on the eggs?
-Any other method of removing the methylene blue besides carbon?

Thanks, to all replies. :D

Also, if any mods need to move this because i wasn't sure if it should go here or Disease/injury/fish id thread. Thanks

12 views and no one has any advice. Well, guess its to late to try anything else. :( The carbon helped a lot. I guess I'll tell ya if the eggs hatch or not...

I don't see any need for methylene blue. Usually, cichlid eggs will hatch kust fine on their own.

I only add methylene blue for my discus and angel eggs. I get higher hatch rates with it.

Should be ok, mythylene blue is pretty well tolerated by most fry and eggs. I have never double dosed but single dosed many many times with good results.

At any time you make a mistake and put too much of something in the water. Take the water out and replace with untreated water.;)

Thanks for all the replies. An update on the eggs, only probably 15 of the 200 are white, so its look good. :D

Don't worry. The toxicity level of methylene blue is quite high and a double dose won't harm the eggs. You can, of course, make partial water changes to give you the peace of mind.
