I've had this little guy for just over a month.. I've noticed this lump under his gills. If he's been over fed what can I do to make it go down and also what's the best diet to put him on?

3 times a day about 4-5 hours apart is it to short of a time to be feeding?

Your feeding routine is fine. I think of bloodworms as a treat because they are not that nutritional especially the frozen bloodworms. Beware a Oscar will beg for food everytime it sees your shadow ?

Hikari is good I normally feed mine carnisticks along with plenty of other foods, but nothing wrong with cichlid gold. Like tlindsey said careful not to over feed they want to be fed constantly.
