well, after reading a couple threas that talked about "crazy filtration" and over filtration, i thought i gotta upgun my system. what i have at the moment is my ghetto, diy filter. its an aquaclear 20 powerhead on a peanut butter jar!! but its loaded with like 1.5 liters of biomax and wads of foam! i count 120 gph though. water's always clear and params perfect.
so, to really overkill the filtering, what filter should i add to the tank? anything cheap but awesome? i like filter that you can like mod up the wazoo.

i thought about buying an aquaclear 110 for the tank, but that filter with the powerhead sounded like fish living in a windtunnel!!:D

so what do u guys think?

lol, just picturing that ac110 on that tank with the powerhead makes me chuckle. seeing the fish desperately swim as hard as possible to try just hold position!!!

if you wanna go nuts in a tank that small you're going to have to think large capacity, low flow. Maybe a 10g wet/dry, with the "sump right behind it, only have the first tank of a few inches of something to prop it up slightly. Get you a $30 overflow (or you could just make one), a powerhead (doesn't need that much since you won't have much head to contend with) and load that sucker with biomedia. If you don't want to install partitions and whatnot in it you could just make a refugium out of it for less work.

Build a refugium for it out of a rubbermaid bin. Light the living crap out of the 'fuge, use a more natural substrate, inject CO2 and plant the living crap out of it. Mount the 'fuge higher than the display tank, and set up an open (unstrained) bung on the 'fuge to gravity feed water back down to the display tank. Introduce various food items to the 'fuge like triops, guppies, ghost shrimp, whatever... things that would never last in your display tank. With any luck, every now and then a critter from the fuge gets into the overflow bung and takes a ride down to the display tank.

lol jk ofcourse... i would just add like a whisper 20 or something. that would do a good job. well thats my advice.

What type stock could you have that you would want or need to overfilter a 10g tank? :screwy:

i kept a convict in a 10 gallon...it had a marineland350 on it. lol

i think you should do a 20L w/d and still attach the extra whisper 20 to it :) now thats large capacity filtering lol
