I just got a 240 gallon long tank (96x24x25. So now im fig out my filtration. Im going to buy a Fx5 and I just bought a 45 gallon long tank for a sump. Now i need some input on a pump for the sump and size of it and also the same info for the overflow box. I just want to get some extra input from the know all's from MFK haha. I also dont have a money tree so i am on a budget :(

Any suggestions at all would be great!!!
Thanks MFKers!

my pump will be in tomorrow .. for my new 225 i went with mag drive 9.5 (950 gph). and if ur also running an fx5 that should be more then enough. .. and not overly expensive. i payed 135 bucks CAD .. tax and shipping included brand new.

was you tank drilled or did you get a overflow box

Get the overflow box that is rated for 1200 gph. It should be plenty to support what you're looking for. As for pump, you won't need a whole lot as you will already have the FX5 running on the tank.

what about the return water pump from the sump? how big should that be?

ANYBODY?

im not an expert at all but as i said i used a 950 gph (mag drive) .. should be fine to do my whole 225. that would be a really good size for you. if your already running an fx5 you can probably scale it down a notch

Go for the flow that you think you will need. A general rule of thumb is 4-5 times turnover, so about 1200gph. You could go more or less as you have the FX5 running, which would account for more turnover, say 400 gph or so.
