Okay so I'm going to drill my 90 gallon this weekend and am wondering where the best spot to have my overflow and returns.
At first I was thinking about having one overflow on each side of the tank, and the return(s) in the middle.
But now I'm thinking about having the two overflows on one end and the returns on the other.
Is there any advantage to either of these? Or is there a totally different placement you would recommend? I've drilled tanks and had two overflows on opposite ends it worked good just seeing where other people place theirs and if there is any recommendations.

Overflows are going to skim the surface very well... but they don't do to great of a job getting dirt off the bottom. I think I would place the overflows more for the best visual appearance than worry about their effectiveness. With any amount of decent flow you will get great surface skimming no matter where they are placed.

For the returns make sure to design your system so that you can't accidentally drain the tank with a back siphon. With that said I would tend to have the returns pointed at the bottom.

Alright thank you! I have a siphon break right below my water line so not much will back siphon into my sump. I guess if I have to make adjustments i always can. And I have a power head in the tank that kicks up most of the debris on the bottom.
