Does anyone use their corner overflow as a wet dry? I think I remember seeing tanks with no standpipe, full of bio-balls. What do you guys think about doing this before the water drains into the sump?

pre filter? can't imagine it filtering much as it wouldn't cover the whole lot, just the ends as it trickles down the side.

Yes I do this all the time. On single tanks the overflow IS the wet/dry filter. Just add a drip tray if you want to spread water and pump the water back to the other end of the tank. On multiple tanks I use some sponge on each tank. My sump doesnt need any biomedia even though it has some.
