Does anyone have any trouble with your floating foods always wanting to go into your overflow box before it is eaten? I was thinking of making a ring just outside of the overflow box to keep the food out. Anyone have any ideas or comments?

HEY THEY SELL THOSE AT PETS SMART:WHOA:
You also can put a piece out "outside screening" there so the food wont get suck through....;)

Yeah I just dont want something that looks like crap. It also has to be big enough to let most of the gunk through but also stop the food.

I can't get a pic that I can make anything out in. But, I use floating koi feeding rings to keep floating food in the tank and away from the weir of the overflow. I just cut out a section and bend the end tips to attach the ring loosely to the end 'teeth' of the weir. Works fine for me.

It is no issue for the sinking pellets that I use, however for the flake and floating food I grab some and submerge it and let it go.

Why don't you just turn the pump off when you feed?

Agreed, we have a Feed button at work, and luckily, it will kick itself back on in case it is forgotten about. I would just turn it off, wait a minute or two, feed, wait a minute or two, and turn the pump back on

I use a feeding ring I bought at petco, it's just a suction cup holding a blue styrofoam plastic ring thingy. It works great because my blue throat trigger has learned that is where his krill and food is and he and my other fish visit that side of the tank when it's feeding time so the fish know it's where the food is, when the trigger grabs food from there it makes the flakes wiggle and drop out so the other fish dine too while the flakes are cascading around the tank via pumps so it doesn't hit the overflow box right away if at all. It's amazing how fish are easily trained and I personally like the trigger and clown fish for their very personable interactions with me so I try and focus on only getting personable fish for my tank, got any other suggestions?
