OVERFLOW BOX GURGLING.

i just built my wet dry and got it running tonight...
so basically the sump is right under my overflow box.
and i just put a pvc leading down to the sump..
bulkhead at the bottom of the sump by the way
so now theres a big hole in my overflow that leads to my sump of course.
but the problem is
theres a horrible loud gurgling noise...
its the sound of the suction of the water into the hole in my overflow box.
what do i do to get rid of this noise??
i cant sleep its 5 am! and im still up cuz of the stupid stupid stupid stupid sound.

Are you saying that your aquarium is drilled, and the overflow box is inside the aquarium. If so do you have a standpipe? http://www.dursostandpipes.com/

You can put a ball valve between your sump and overflow box. It will allow you to adjust the flow and stop the gurgle. that's the way I do it.

hey rally thanks for the link bro.
i actually did the standpipe that the link u posted showed ma and it works great no more gurgling from the overflow bux... but theres ****n gurgling at the sump now!
hahahaha
so for now imma just deal with this.
then sometime soon imma try to build that durso pipe...
supposedly its dead quite... bottom and top

I've not tried it, but I saw an image where a guy T'd the overflow where it hits the sump. it was at a slant, one side whent into the sump, the other was above water, giving the air an escape route preventing the bubbling.
