overflow box

so how do yall keep food from getting into the over flow box and into the sump. just the other day i notice i had a a few rosies in my sump. how do yall prevent live food and floating foods from gettin into the overflow boxes? any interestin designs? pics?

I turn off the pump for 10mins while I feed them.Don't forget to turn it back on so as to not kill your BB.

same here. all my filters and pumps are on power strips and when it's time to feed I just turn the strip off.

Yup...me too. I have my pump on a switch. I bought a double outlet box and have the pumps electrical outlet hooked up to the switch.

With live food, especially, you will need to turn it off. For floating food, you can add a floating barrier or wier.

This is what I did, a diy overflow with an extra section that allows it to suck from the bottom+ a grille that prefents feeders being sucked in.

My overflows have corse prefilters on the tank side, so the most a small feeder can do is get stuck for a lil bit before they get chomped.

that's a great idea with the grate to stop the smaller (not too bright) fish from getting sucked up!
