I am going to drill the back of a 180 acrylic for sump overflows and return. Just the basic bulkhead and elbow. I looked around and couldn't find many specific opinions on on where to locate them. Probably does not matter all that much, figured I would ask before drilling though. The return pump will flow about 1000gph after head and friction losses. I was just going to use 1 drain, but now thinking two in case one clogs. I have a couple ideas.

1. 1.5" drain in one back corner, 1" return in the other.

2. 1" or 1.25" drain in each corner (2 total)and return in the middle. (My favorite)

3. 1x1.5" or 2x1" drains in middle and returns in the corners pointing towards the middle.

4. 2x1" drains, one under each cross brace (about 24" in from the sides) ---return?

5. 1x1" drain in each corner and one return right next to it pointing out on a 45deg towards opposite front corner.

6. Something else completely?

Your guy's thoughts?

Thanks!

i would put them 6 inches to a foot in from the sides if your using two over flows if using only one probably in the corner oposit the outlet nozzle and use a powerhead to push debris toward it
