I have a 250g with dual overflows on opposite corners. I planned to run my return lines over the to top at around 3/4". There will be a T at the top to split the return line. I went with 3/4" hose because this is the recommended size on my QuietOne 4000HH 980gph 13ft head. My dilemma is I cannot decide if I should use 2" or 1.5" bulkhead. My overflow size is 5"x5.25" which I don't have much space to work with. What bulkhead size do you recommend? I don't want to cause a flood if the pump can't keep up.

The pump can never keep up... that is a basic principal of sump design. The overflow should always be able to drain more water from the tank than the pump can return to the tank.

I have a QuietOne 3000. A single 1" overflow pipe is sufficient for this pump. Two 1.5" bulkheads should be more than sufficient for a QuietOne 4000 High head pump. If you go with 2" bulkheads you can always use reducer fittings to go to smaller piping.

I would go 1.5" if you can . I had dual 1" on a 210g which was good but i/m wondering if you get less noise with a bigger diameter. I have 2- 2" on my 750 which would be way overkill on a 265

I heard a small pipe can cause the water to fill up too quickly and causing all sort of noise inside the pipe. If you want less noise you should look into building a durso PVC pipe or stockman PVC pipe.
