So I'm about to install my sump, but before I do that I want to know what I should use to stop small fish being sucked into the 1 inch overflow pipe. Are there products I could buy at a hardware store to do this? or should I just cut out some fly screen and hold it in place with an elastic band?

I did with the elastic band, just make sure when you feed them, put the food on the opposite end so it wont suck the food in. And make sure if you have airstones, dont have it near it.

yeah I've been seeing those sort of covers in photos like that but what are they called and where do I get them from?
These actually come with the bulkheads I get from my LFS. It's part of the kit with bulkhead, strainer and a 90 to hook up to 1" flex tube
