I'll start off by saying that Im a novice when it comes to overflows. I have an overflow system in my 120 gallon. The tank has been cycled for about 2 months now, I change about 15 gallons every other week. There is debris collecting all over the bottom of the box, if i do anything it gets stirred up and shoots back out into my aquarium. How can I prevent this? I cant get a siphon going strong enough to get it out either. Any help is appreciated on removing it but expecially preventing it! Thanks

Use a turkey baster to suck it out or make something like this

I made it to prime overflows but it works well as a water pump too.
