Overflow filter media?

Hey guys new here first post yayy!anyways i was wondering if there s any kind of filtering i can do in the area of the attached pic? Would those micron tube things fit? Any idears?

Is that section filled with water? if so, the only problem might be that debris collects restricts flow to the sump, and your tank overflows.

Is the overflow is restricted, how can the sump pump return water to the tank, and cause a overflow???????????

If pipes to the sump are sufficiently blocked, and there is enough water in the sump, the pump can still send water from the sump to the tank, if there is enough, it can overflow the tank.
