overflow/ gravel vac

could this idea work? Basically my thought is to replace the end cap in the tank with the strainer with an endcap fitted with the outflow line of a gravel vac. In theory you could vacuum the entire tank without stopping. All you would have to do would be to rinse out your prefilter every vacuum day. Any advise would be great. thanks

You'd need a HUGE mechanical capacity to make that work. A better bet would be a pump driven vac that fed into a micron bag and then into the sump.

Use a pond pump with a hose (and gravel cleaning tube on the end) to clean the tank with on the inlet and a discharge hose on the outlet. Is this what you meant?
