overflow help !!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
from my understanding, the overflow is a space inside the tank itself that the water goes into and then drops down through a bulkhead/plumbing into a sump or wet/dry style filter. the water literally 'overflows' from the tank into the special isolated section. if you don't have an overflow built into the tank, then you would use a siphon to pull water out of the tank down into the sump, and then you need a pump to get it back into the tank.

Just to clarify, reply #2 was about a hang-on-back type of overflow box and reply #3 was about a built in overflow that is installed in the tank by the tank manufacturer.

And no, you don't need a pump for them. You only need a pump in the sump to return the water to the tank.
