looking for an idea on covering my overflow that sucks in floating pellets everytime i feed...

was thinking of either zip tying or suction cup a screen around the overflow teeth...trying to see what everybody else does...and i know the idea of just turning off the pump, but i don't like the idea of having to restart my pump daily, kinda wears out the impellor..

This is a solution I am still trying to solve.

Put a U turn at the surface (with a couple of small holes to break the syphon) and send the piping back down below.

turn off the pump. I have been doing this for the last 15yrs all my filters are on power strips.when it's time for feeding I just turn off the fpower strips but make sure you have some type of oxygen going in to the tanks.I have sponge filters to keep the oxygen going in the all my tanks during feedings.

mr pleco - do you have a pic of how you attached the screen?

burko - sounds like a good idea, but my overflow is enclosed box type.

more ideas and pics plz...i'm still trying to think an idea w/out shutting down the pump....i would be doing that 2-3 times a day...

1/2 in pvc pipe going across the top of your tank creating a devider use to sucktion cups to keep it in one place and this will keep all the food on one side of the tank...
