Overflow or Canister?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if its for snakeheads ,i would prefer canister esp if breeding as lots of channa have eggs that float to the surface ,a overflow would skim any eggs from the surface , with a canister if they breed you can just put some foam over the intake , if not breeding then up to you really , i just prefer canisters over sumps and hob ,but thats a personal choice

Usually I prefer a wet/dry, but for a planted tank a canister will be a better fit.

i would say get both. the wet dry will give you your bioligical filtration but you also need you mechanical filtrtion that will get the other bigger stuff that your wet;dry wont. well thats my point of view

Depends on the flow rates of both. Wet/Dry's are much more flexible in the setup of mechanical media than canisters are.
