overflow question

picked up and older 250 gallon today got it for free my local tattoo shop has an underground storage area someone stored it there like ten years ago and left it....so i got it for free just had to clean to get to it my question is it has an overflow box on the left side now there is a hole in the bottom of it and also on the side does anyone know what the purpose of this is

y would it be on the same box its mounted to the outside of the tank

Because the box is there to hide all the plumbing.

Is the other hole on the side of the overflow box, or on the side of the tank?

I would think that it is just there to hide the plumbing once inside the tank.
