My 225 has a glass overflow which is not a problem to me but it raises some possible concerns, it does not have the "ribs" at the top where the newer plastic overflows have, will this cause a problem? Ifso i can take some lexan and make some for it. My next question is how high will the water level be if the top of the overflow is 1" below the top braces. As I see slot of people post questions without pics but ive learned you get more responses if you have pics of your questioned item.

yes you can make your own ribs.

next question depends on the return pump power. the stronger the pump the higher the overall water level.

i would put a valve on it so you can control the flow

Great response... but frightening avatar...

lol

I will be using two 1000gph pumps, ive got the plumbing and sump planned out with ball valves on all pipes from and to the tank for flow tweaking.

i dont think it will raise too high, as you do have three bulk heads and the riblessness will have it drain faster

The water level won't be too much higher that the top of the overflow.

I ran dual 2" overflows with a single 1 inch return pushing just over 1000 GPH and the water level was just at 1 inch above. Since mine where horizontal and allowed air to enter via a durso setup they drained slower then yours will.

So I tend to agree that you shouldn't have any problems, plus you can always restrict flow if need.

Hard to tell the room from the pics, will you be able to use a Durso? might get kinda loud.

Noise is not an issue for me as this will be in a fish room. Since noise is not an issue I also plan on running a spray bar above the water for surface aggitation.
