So I bought this tank on Craigslist a few months ago and finally got moved in to the new house and started setting it up. Right now I have this for a sump and overflow. Never had a sump or overflow before, so here is the question: do I fill the overflow with biomedia, and put an airstone in the bottom to agitate? uploadfromtaptalk1382453704251.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1382453742249.jpg
And then as far as the sump is concerned, does the grid go beneath the bioballs, or the tray I have on top with the holes, or does it matter? uploadfromtaptalk1382453857596.jpg

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

I figured out the sump is an aga megaflow 4, and found a picture to assemble it, the tray on the top gets flipped like a cake pan and poly floss or something lays in it. Grate on the bottom, balls between obviously.

Still wondering if there would be an advantage/implication to bio media in the overflow itself.

If you mean by filling the overflow with media, you mean filling the overflow pipe?
That can be problematic, because restricting the overflow pipe with stuff can possibly cause it to be plugged, and in turn, causing the tank to overflow onto the floor.

Yeah no need to fill the overflow itself that sump will be just fine. Any ideas on stock yet?

Interesting idea. I never thought about putting anything in my overflows. Till now.

A little bit of a long story, but I had a 14" tiger oscar in a 56 column with a 9" pleco, and no problems. He ended up getting hith, maybe feeders, maybe carbon in the filter, not sure but it looked pretty certain he wasn't going to make it. So I bought another Oscar and started him in a 20 gallon grow out tank. Of course the big one got better. To make a long story short they both ended up in the 56 and about 2 days after I bought the 225 for them the 8 inch albino killed the 14 inch tiger. I don't know why he is so aggressive, he has never had a feeder, but he attacks my hand when I clean the tank and usually draws blood. Right now he and the pleco are starting to go at it.

Anyway, with that being said, it would be those two, a JD, and I doubt there would be any compatible bream?
