just wondering if anyone knows how to fiqure what size overflow needed on a 180 gallon tank?
i will be using a wet dry filter setup.
Also what size pump should i use?
I want to move as much water as possible!
My sump will be a 75 gallon tank.

thanks in advance

Oh yeah the pump i was looking at is a pond pump that pumps 2000 gallons at a 1 foot head. Not sure what it is at a 3 or 4 foot head that i will have.
I will look into it.

depends on how many times you want the water to cycled through the system per hour. I've heard 3 is a good starting place. i would say 6-700 gph would be plenty. just go for as much as you want and get a pump that matches the overflow:)

what size pipe should i use to be able sustain that flow rate.
I have know idea what size to use
I was thinking a 1 1/2 inch overflow. How many gallons per hour should i expect with this setup.

rally what size overflows do you use and what size pump?
I am all about overkill and as far as i know more is better.
So if i cycle my total water volume 10 times in a hour that would be better right?

I would follow rally's advice. Three times would be a minimum for me.

i have 2 1/4 pvc for the overflow and 1200 gph (aprox) pump.
