Overflow/sump newbie here, need help. Overflow for dummies

Alright guys

Today I just picked up a 180 gallon fish tank with two corner overflow, thats basically all he gave me nothing else.

Can someone give me a run down of how this work. And what I need to run this tank, in example, Pump, Piping, hose, egg crate.



I have been trying to search the forum but didn't get enough information.

Best place to start would be the Stickey sections of both the DIY and the Setup & Filtration areas. I was in the same boat you are in a few weeks ago, and the stickeys have more than enough info for all of it.

I'm planning on posting a DIY for my wet/dry set-up on my 180 within a few weeks. So if you still need more info, it'll be coming soon.

i justed hooked a canister to one of my tanks with a built in overflow. It just depends on what you want to do.

click the link in my sig. I highly suggest that you run through the sticky...as long as it is by the time you read it all (30-45min worth) it is WELL WORTH THE TIME.
