I have a 200g on the way with an overflow, would it be possible to run a canister to this? The over flow has 2 of those finger inlets as well, Any suggestions? I'm starting to shy away from a wet/dry based on portability factors....

The major restriction on using a canister in-line to a gravity drain is water level. A major portion of a wet/dry is the sump or reservoir. This reservoir compensates for water loss within the system that's limited by a fixed overflow point. Without any means of compensating for water loss, a canister filter will hit a run-dry point on almost a daily basis.

You could always fill your tank to just under the slotted weir of the intake, run your canister hoses through the overflow holes, and hang them over the weir, into the tank, as if the overflow is the back of your tank (if the tank provides enough room. Glass tank should be OK. Acrylic tank will probably not provide such room).

Not exactly sure what you'er saying.....But what I was thinking if I filled the tank to and flooded the overflow (plugged the outlet). Then I could just run it as normal and hook the out flow to pre-made outllets of the tank...Or is the just what you said??? ha
